Kazakhstan has proposed the creation of an independent institution for the protection of children's rights

Almaty. February 18. Silkroadnews - Kazakhstan should establish an independent institution for the protection of children's rights, says the chairman of the Children's Fund of Kazakhstan Elmira Vatlina.
According to experts, due to the fact that the existing in Kazakhstan Committee on children's rights is part of the Ministry of Education and Science, its activities pursues educational purposes only.
In turn, the director of the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights Rosa Akylbekova believes that in parallel with the development of legislation, must be created non-departmental State Institute for the Protection of the interests and rights of the child.
As noted, the need to establish an independent institution in Kazakhstan for the protection of children's rights was announced at the session of UN Committee on the Protection of Children, held on 4-6 February in Geneva, where the NGO Working Group performed a parallel report on the observance of standards in Kazakhstan.
The official report of Kazakhstan for the Protection of Children's Rights, drawn up by the authorized state bodies, will be heard in Geneva in the autumn of 2015.
Kazakhstan ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1994.
