Kazakhstan has resumed exports of electricity to Russia
Almaty. March 17. Silkroadnews - Kazakhstan has resumed exports of electricity to the Russian Federation, its volume could reach 1.8 billion kWh in 2016, KazTAG reports.
“Kazakhstan has resumed exports of electricity to Russia. Since March 17, 2016, the second power unit of “Ekibastuz GRES-2” JSC has been launched into operation and carries out the delivery of Kazakhstani electricity to the Russian power system,” - “Samruk-Energo” JSC press-service informs.
The expected volume of the electricity exported will amount to 1.8 billion kWh in 2016.
According to chairman of the board of “Samruk-Energo” JSC Almasadam Satkaliyev, the available capacities of Ekibastuz GRES-1 and GRES-2 will be involved to carry out the export deliveries.
Mutually beneficial agreements between the major subjects of the wholesale electricity market of Kazakhstan and Russia shall provide the foreign exchange earnings, additional volumes of production, services and income.
It should be reminded, in November 2014 Kazakhstan’s electricity supply was stopped on the background of the devaluation of the Russian ruble to the Kazakhstani tenge.
The volume of electricity exports of “Samruk-Energo” to Russia in 2013 and 2014 amounted to 2,452 kWh and 1.862 billion kWh respectively.
