Silkroadnews - Kazakhstan is among the leading countries who spend a high-tech open-heart surgery, reports KazTAG with reference to the Director of the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Medicine of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Republic Salim Berkinbaev.
"Today we can say that Kazakhstan is among the 22 leading countries in the world that conduct high-tech open-heart surgery. By the number of patients who successfully transplanted artificial ventricles, Kazakhstan takes one of the leading places in the world (124 patients from 2011 to 2014), 7 patients transplanted donor heart",- he said at a briefing on Wednesday.
According to him, it has become possible as a result of implementation of the program of development of cardiology and cardiac surgery, in which were opened 4 major cardiac center in Astana, Pavlodar, Aktobe and Karaganda, as well as 6 clinics in Almaty, Shymkent, Uralsk and Taldykorgan with cardiac departments.
"If in 2003 the death rate from diseases of the circulatory system accounted for 539 cases per 100 thousand population, now it has dropped to 217 cases per 100 thousand population", - said S. Berkinbaev.
In turn, the head of JSC "National Research Medical Center" Saule Abseitova noted that at present the number of open heart surgery in Kazakhstan is 70% of the needs of the population, coronary artery bypass surgery - 80%, coronary artery stenting - 51 %.
She stressed that Kazakhstan "insufficiently performs operations, such as implantation of pacemakers, radiofrequency ablation".
Director of National Centre for Healthy Lifestyle Zhamilya Battakova a briefing noted that an important role in reducing cardiovascular diseases plays prevention . For example, in Kazakhstan the opening program "Health Promoting Schools" at outpatient clinics.
"Today, Kazakhstan has 3,650 such schools, 681 of which is a profile for the prevention of coronary heart disease and hypertension, 394 - for the prevention of risk factors that lead to cardiovascular disease", - she concluded.
