Almaty. February 19. Silkroadnews - Proposal of Turkey to change the route in the framework of the project Silk Wind, which aims to launch a container train "China-Kazakhstan-Caspian-Caucasus-Turkey-Europe" is considered by Kazakhstan, reports Trend.
"According to the scheme proposed by Kazakhstan, it was assumed that the cargo containers from China by rail will be transported to Kazakhstan's Caspian coast. Then they will be overwhelmed by the sea ferry and taken to the port of Baku. From the capital of Azerbaijan cargo containers will be delivered by rail to the Georgian ports where later will be transported to the ports of Turkey",- says the publication.
According to the National Secretary of TRACECA in Azerbaijan Akif Mustafayev, Turkey proposes to deliver the cargo directly by railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK).
"Routes through the Black Sea ports exist in any case, they have been operating for decades. Rail link created by BTK, provides non-transshipment route, which is more appropriate for Turkey",- he said.
Mustafayev noted that in Kazakhstan this proposal is under consideration.
"As for Georgia, it managed to hold approval procedure of the route, that we have done in Azerbaijan for a long time. Now the Georgian side says that they need to repeat the procedure on the new route, which can take several months. We, in turn, supported the proposal of Turkey and ready to once again carry out procedures into line, but Kazakhstan and Georgia must give their support",- said Mustafayev.
According to him, after 4 states come to an agreement, procedures will be repeated and signed an intergovernmental agreement.
As noted, the goal of the project is the creation of Silk Wind train route multimodal transport system with the prior exchange of information between customs authorities and rail operators of participating countries.
