Kazakhstan offered tariff conditions to transport container cargo through the Chinese port of Lianyungang
Almaty. May 2. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan continues developing mutually beneficial cooperation with China to attract transit cargo and raise rail transportation volumes, the statement by the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan says.
“Within the framework of the XI meeting of the subcommittee on cooperation in railway transportation of the Kazakhstani-Chinese Cooperation Committee, the parties discussed a number of issues in the field of railway transportation. In particular, the issues of building a regulatory framework aimed at reducing administrative barriers in the transportation of goods between Kazakhstan and China, setting competitive tariffs for rail transportation to attract transit freight traffic, setting new transit routes, etc.”, the ministry statement said.
It is also reported that the agreement has been reached to launch the Talgo passenger train on the route Astana-Almaty-Urumqi to start operation prior to the international exhibition EXPO-2017 to be held in Kazakhstan.
To raise the transportation volumes, the Kazakhstani side offered competitive and attractive tariff conditions to transport container cargo along the route Japan/Korea-Lianyungang port-Turkey.
In their turn, the Chinese colleagues informed on the state acceptance procedure for the checkpoint of Khorgos completed in 2016 and expressed readiness to support Kazakhstan’s initiatives on the Khorgos-Altynkol border crossing to operate continuously throughout the day.
The meeting held in Bejing on April 26-27 resulted in signing the appropriate minutes.
