Kazakhstan offered Uzbekistan to create a forum for regional cooperation
Almaty. June 9. Silkroadnews – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Erik Utembayev proposed to establish “Forum of regions”, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.
He noted Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan plan to raise the rate of trade and economic cooperation and paid particular attention to the potential of strengthening cooperation between two countries regions.
“We are eager to strengthen the regional cooperation, meaning not only the cross-border interaction with four 4 areas bordering with Uzbekistan. During my recent meeting with Uzbekistan’s MFERIT head Elyor Ganiev we, among the other things, also discussed the idea of a “Forum of Regions”. It’s a platform where business representatives from the regions of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan could discuss their joint plans. It could also become a platform for discussions with the heads of local administrations and so on,” E. Utembayev said.
The ambassador added the first step in these plans is his visit to Navoiy to discuss the possibilities of closer cooperation in Navoiy region of Uzbekistan and bordering area of Kazakhstan meaning South Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Aktobe and Mangistau regions.
