Kazakhstan offers to sign a pact on water and environmental security in Central Asia

Silkroadnews - First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev at the invitation of Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin participated in the conference "Water and good neighborly relations in Central Asia", where he proposed to develop and sign a pact on water and environmental security in Central Asia, KazTAG reports.
As recalled B.Sagintayev, along with the development of the legal framework regulating issues of water development, the water situation in Central Asia has a negative trend, effective solution to this problem requires a comprehensive approach and concerted action.
In particular, it is necessary to hold a meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the International Fund for Saving Aral Sea or Water Summit, involving major donors and experts.
Another initiative of Kazakhstan is to improve the efficiency of the Interstate Coordination Water Commission, the Basin Water Association "Syrdarya" and "Amudarya".
B.Sagintayev conference also announced an initiative to create a Central Asian fund for the implementation of water projects and a regional center for water security.
