Kazakhstan passes law on free trade with Uzbekistan

Astana. March 27. Silkroadnews – The upper chamber of Kazakh Parliament passed the law “On ratification of protocol on Cctober 18, 2011 free trade zone agreement between parties and Republic of Uzbekistan”.
Therefore, the law is now passed and forwarded to be signed by the President.
The document governs tariff-free trade regime between two countries without confiscations.
“Kazakhstan stipulated the list of goods that would remain to be a subjects to export tariffs (when exported to Uzbekistan) within the framework of the protocol. On the other hand, Uzbekistan also claimed its right to subject goods exported to Kazakhstan to export tariffs. At the same time, Uzbekistan does not subject the goods incoming from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine to import tarrifs”, the Upper Chamber’s committee on economic development and entrepreneurship concludes.
Adoption of this legislation enables to strengthen existing trade relations and create new opportunities for further cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
