Kazakhstan plans to create a bank of FMD vaccine for the vaccination of cattle in Central Asia
Astana. January 12. Silkroadnews - Astana plans to open a sub-regional Coordination Office of International des Epizooties (OIE) for FMD, which will create a bank of vaccines for the vaccination of cattle in Central Asia, reports KazTAG citing Vice Minister of Agriculture Gulmira Isaeva.
According to her, the relevant agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the OIE has already been approved by the Majilis. There are only 5 Such offices in the world: Kazakhstan, the USA, Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia. OIE includes 180 countries.
According G. Isaeva, Kazakhstan will provide rent-free second floor of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory and OIE will provide salaries for several office staff. The budget of the intervention will be formed by grants of OIE member countries. In this case, G. Isayeva said that over the past 2 years the OIE has allocated Kazakhstan grants totaling $800 thousand Euro.
G. Isayeva recalled that Kazakhstan expects to receive from the OIE status of FMD-free country in May this year.
H. Isayeva noted that the OIE Assembly will be held in May 2015 in Paris.
