Kazakhstan ranks the third in trade turnover of Uzbekistan

Almaty. December 26. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan ranks the third in trade turnover of Uzbekistan after China and Russia, UzTAG reports.

“Totally a share of Kazakhstan (8.7%) in the trade turnover of Uzbekistan has allowed us to rank the third after China (17.7%) and Russia (17.2%). However, there is still unused potential of bilateral cooperation between our countries.

Thus, during the September meeting between Nursultan Abishevich (President of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev – Silkroadnews) and Shavkat Miromonovich (at that time the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev – Silkroadnews), it was decided to raise annual growth of trade turnover up to $5 billion”, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Erik Utembayev said at a press conference in Tashkent.

Among the major goods Kazakhstan exports to Uzbekistan he listed wheat and meslin, wheat or wheat-rye flour, iron or non-alloy steel semi-finished products, ores and concentrates of zinc, raw aluminum.

List of major goods imported to Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan incudes natural gas, grapes, apricots, cherries, peaches, tomatoes, fresh or chilled, dried fruits.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in the first 9 months of 2016 the bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amounted to $1.548 billion.
