Kazakhstan ratifies amendments to Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete Ozone Layer

Astana. April 23. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan ratified Beijing amendments to Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete Ozone Layer, as Presidential Press Office informs.
Ratification of these amendments will allow Kazakh businesses to reduce financial losses associated with introduction of any new legislation on consumption of substances that deplete ozone layer.
At the same time, further measures for effective regulation of HCFCs production by the signatories are enforced by the amendments to the Protocol.
Kazakhstan is to receive financial aid and technical support from the Global Environmental Fund after the Beijing amendment is ratified. Under this agreement, Kazakhstan is to receive USD 6 mln for the purposes of following the requirements of the protocol correctly between 2015 and 2017.
Monreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete Ozone Layer came into being on 16th of September 1987. Kazakhstan signed the Protocol in 1997. Beijing amendments date back to the 3rd of December, 1999.
