Kazakhstan to introduce electronic passports for transport vehicles
Almaty. July 19. KazTAG – As of July 1, 2017, electronic passports will be introduced for transport vehicles in Kazakhstan, KazTAG reports.
“According to the document on the transport, mechanical and other types of vehicles electronic passports system, from July 1, 2017, across the territory of the Eurasian Economic Community (EEC) a single electronic passports of transport vehicles are introduced, and from July 1, 2018, the electronic passports are introduced for the mechanical and other vehicles,” the press service of Kazakhstan’s ministry of industry and development reported on their official website this Tuesday.
It is specified, the system of electronic passports allows simplifying the procedure for monitoring the vehicle when moving through the EEC customs border, contributing to ensure the state recording and fighting against the law violations in this area.
“Certain procedures will be simplified for the vehicle owners (a number of documents to be submitted to the authorities is to be reduced, terms of documents’ review are to be reduced as well) in the course of transportation, buying and selling, or carrying out any other legal actions regarding vehicles, running gears, self-propelled vehicles and other equipment,” representatives of the ministry’s press service report.
The passport is to be issued by the manufacturers of vehicles, as well as by the authorized bodies and organizations recorded in the relevant register. Using the single information system available one can check a vehicle identification number to see its status: valid, reclaimed or invalid.
“The owner of the vehicle will receive a record from the vehicle’s electronic passport. The e-passport, however, does not replace the registration certificate (certificate of registration of the vehicle), but shall be a document to accompany the vehicle during its whole lifecycle. For now, the work is carried out to establish the Kazakhstani system of electronic passports, in the future this system to be integrated with the systems of other EEC member-countries”, the report states.
