Kazakhstan to legislatively strengthen labour unions
Astana. March 14. SilkroadNews – Minister of labour and social protection of population of the RK, Tamara Duseynova proposed a “strong partner” model for labour unions in Kazakhstan. It is proposed to be added to the draft of the law on Labour unions that is currently considered by the MPs of Majilis in Kazakhstan.
This new document will give a priority for representation of employees to labour unions. They would also get a priority for negotiation on their behalf.
The Labour Code is to be amended accordingly.
The Minister concluded that a “strong partner” model is to give more power to labour unions in social partnership for the protection of labour, social, and economic rights of employees. It is also to give them more power to prevent labour disputes.
