Kazakhstan to start gas delivery to China using the Trans-Asian pipeline system

Almaty. September 22. Silkroadnews –  In IV quarter of this year Kazakhstan plans starting its gas deliveries to China via the Trans-Asian pipeline system, press-service of JSC «KazTransGas» (KTG) informed.

As noted, the national company KTG took part in the 15th meeting of the Coordination Committee for operation of the gas pipeline «Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China» held in Tashkent. The representatives of four countries' pipeline companies discussed the key issues relating to the transportation of natural gas and operation of the Trans-Asian pipeline system in 2016-2017.

KTG General Director Rustam Suleymanov said, within the framework of the agreements reached between «KazMunaiGas» and PetroChina, in the fourth quarter of 2016 KTG plans starting its gas export deliveries to China.

KTG operates the largest in Central Asia gas transportation system that includes more than 54 thousand km of main gas pipelines and gas distribution networks and provides exploration, production, refining, transportation, storage and sales of gas.

The main gas pipeline «Kazakhstan-China» is a-1300-km long part of the «Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China» system starting at the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and ending at Khorgos, on the border of Kazakhstan and China.

The construction of the linear part and four compressor stations on «C» line with capacity of 20 billion cubic meters per year has been completed and put into operation. In 2017 it is planned to complete construction of all the objects on «C» line raising the capacity up to 25 billion cubic meters per year.
