Kazakhstani citizens will be deprived of citizenship for joining extremist organizations

Almaty. April 11. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstani citizens will be deprived of citizenship for joining extremist organizations, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said in interview with “Mir 24” TV channel.

“According to legislation of Kazakhstan, if he (a citizen – Silkroadnews) has left and joined the extremist organization, he won’t be able to return home any more being deprived of citizenship. It is a compulsory measure”, N. Nazarbayev said.

The president added, there are more than fifty Kazakhstani citizens joining the extremist organizations. “There are about 500-600 persons, probably, from Kazakhstan who joined the extremists, but up to five thousand, they say, and, maybe, more from the countries of the former Soviet Union”, he also noted.

According to the head of state, it is necessary to take measures to prevent the citizens from joining the extremist groups.

"First, we must take measures so that they do not go there. We tried to carry out preventive work with those who returned, but haven't succeeded, thus, the decision has been made to close the way back to home”, he said.
