Kazakhstani companies will be able to participate in modernization of 243 km railways in Turkmenistan
Almaty. May 4. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstani companies can take part in modernizing Turkmenistan’s 243 km long Turkmenabat-Mary railroad, press service of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
As noted, on Wednesday Ashgabat hosted the 9th meeting of the Kazakhstani-Turkmen intergovernmental commission for economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
Preliminary agreements were reached on participation of the Kazakhstani companies in the construction of the Ashgabat-Afghan road section, modernization of 243 km long Turkmenabat-Mary railroad section (31.6 thousand tonnes of rail, railroad switches), modernization of the rail welding enterprise in Farap town and car-repair factory in Serdar town.
The parties discussed a project on construction of space vehicles for Turkmenistan and training of specialists in the space sector, as well as creation of a border trade area in Mangistau region and the Balkan velayat and cooperation within the framework of the international fund for saving the Aral Sea.
In 2016 the foreign trade turnover between the countries increased 59% compared to 2015 and amounted to $283.5 million.
