Kazakhstani companies will participate in infrastructure projects in Afghanistan
Almaty. April 12. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstani companies can participate in infrastructure projects financed by the government of Afghanistan, chairman of the chamber of international commerce of the Republic of Kazakhstan Meirbek Mazhitov announced, KazTAG reports.
“In the first quarter, with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Afghanistan, they contribute to open the trading house within the Expo-center, where the Kazakhstani companies could present their products to our Afghan partners on continuing basis. We have already made the preliminary contracts to the amount of $700 thousand – these are on macaroni products – and we expect the number of contracts to grow,” M. Mazhitov said at the meeting with mass-media representatives in Astana on Tuesday.
“The Afghan entrepreneurs are very interested in this market, even on an exclusive basis, and our ambassador says we can actively compete with Pakistan and substitute the Pakistani products. The Afghan side is very interested in Kazakhstani oil products, the confectionery agreements have also been made on the prior supply contract,” he added.
M. Mazhitov noted that the government of Afghanistan annually allocates $2 billion for the construction of infrastructure projects.
“The point in case is about roads, electrification, all sorts of dams, and for our enterprises it is also a good opportunity to enter this market and participate in large infrastructure projects. We have already made the preliminary arrangements with the Kazakhstani enterprises to participate in these projects, some of them will take part in tenders even now,” he said.
