Almaty. April 21. Silkroadnews – Majilis deputies of the Kazakhstani parliament have fears that Kazakhstan can repeat the mistakes of Uzbekistan when switching to the Latin schedule, KazTAG writes.

“We should on the whole take into account the experience of this country (Uzbekistan – Silkroadnews), that has carried out 3 graphics reforms for a quarter of a century. And even after that they still use Cyrillic alphabet for a big volume of information. It sets one thinking”, the deputy of the Majilis of the Kazakhstani Parliament Sauyatbek Abdrakhmanov said at the Majilis session on Thursday.

“We must clarify that the Russian language uses and will use Cyrillic alphabet. During the transition period the Kazakh writing system will use both Cyrillic alphabet along with the Latin script. Time will show how long the transition period will last. Yet I really would not want it to last for a quarter of a century, as it happens in Uzbekistan”, he added.

To remind, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed to adopt a single standard for the Kazakh writing system to switch to the Latin alphabet by the end of the year.
