Almaty. March 3. Silkroadnews - "KazTransGas" (KTG) and JSC "Gazprom" intends to increase the capacity of the main gas pipeline passing through the territory of Kyrgyzstan, informed the press service of the Kazakh company.
"A meeting of representatives of "KazTransGas" and JSC "Gazprom" in Astana, discussed the issues of increasing the capacity of Kyrgyz section of the main gas pipeline (MG) BGR-TBA (Bukhara gas Tashkent-Bishkek-Almaty) for stable gas supply to consumers in Almaty and Almaty region",- said in a statement on Tuesday.
As explained, now the technical condition of the main gas pipeline and gas pumping units at CS (compressor station) "Sokuluk", located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, constrains the capacity of MG BGR-TBA. The capacity of the pipeline at this site is not more than 250 thousand m3/h, which does not satisfy the growing needs of rapidly developing Almaty and Almaty region, the gas demand of which reaches 450 thousand m3/h.
The sides agreed to develop a list of activities and assign turnaround time to increase the capacity of MG. In particular, by the results of the audit, "Gazprom Kyrgyzstan" will work on the reconstruction and repair of the main gas pipeline and modernization of the CS "Sokuluk" in order to increase the capacity to 450 thousand m3/h. This does not exclude the possibility of building a new pipeline at the state border of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic - CS "Sokuluk", with approximate length of 62 km.
"The project is in the interests of both sides and contributes to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. For "Gazprom" mentioned above project will fulfill obligations to provide gas to consumers in Kyrgyzstan, as part of the general scheme of gas supply of the country",- says the report.
