Almaty. September 28. SIlkroadnews - Kyrgyz farmers are losing up to 30% of potential revenue because of problems with exports, said the experts of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
"The Kyrgyz Republic has traditionally been an exporter of livestock and livestock products. However, due to a variety of infections of livestock in Kyrgyzstan, farmers are having difficulties with exports. It is estimated that livestock farmers lose up to 30% of potential revenue due to lack of export opportunities",- said in a statement.
In 2007, experts of the FAO assessed the veterinary services of the Kyrgyz Republic, and recommended that the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of the Kyrgyz Republic introduced the practice of animal identification and tracking. This would allow the KP to use the principles of zoning in accordance with the Code of the OIE Terrestrial Animal. In addition, the system for identifying and tracking would be a key component in the process of improving livestock statistics, management of animal production and pastures, to improve animal genetics and overall management of animal genetic resources.
During the seminar, experts of state and regional departments of veterinary and phytosanitary will develop a computer program for identifying and tracing animals designed specifically for Kyrgyzstan by French company SENOE under contract with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
