Almaty. July 7. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan considers opportunity of interchange of electricity to Tajikistan, Tajik telegraph agency (TajikTA) reported on Thursday.

Kyrgyzstan’s Vice Prime Minister Oleg Pankratov assigned the country’s national energy holding together with JSC “NES Kyrgyzstan” and JSC “Electric stations” to work out the opportunity of supplying electricity from the Republic of Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan in summer.

In particular, the electricity interchange is considered to maximize the storage volume of the Toktogul reservoir by the beginning of 2016-2017 autumn-winter period.

It is considered the electricity to be provided to Kyrgyzstan from Tajikistan in summer to be then returned in other periods.

O. Pankratov noted it would allow reducing water passage from the Toktogul reservoir, while in Tajikistan could be accompanied by reduction of waste water discharges from the Vakhsh HPPs cascade, thus, contribute to raising the electricity output.

This issue was discussed at the meeting on preparations for 2016-2017 autumn-winter period on July 6.
