Bishkek. April 2. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan is forced to stop exporting energy due to insufficient water levels in Toktogul Dam, as the Minister of Energy and Industry, Osmonbek Artykbayev reported.
“We should have saved water for drier periods, but we kept exporting 2.5 bln kilowatts of energy per hour each year. We have wasted our resources, when they were in abundance. This is why we were on strict saving schedule last year and exported just 375 mln kilowatts of energy per hour. There is an insufficient water level this year. We had a long winter and energy consumption increased by 12%. It is highly likely we won’t be exporting any electricity this year”, Mister Artykbayev said.
