Kyrgyzstan has filed a note of protest to Uzbekistan due to blocking the road and setting up a checkpoint
Almaty. March 18. Silkroadnews - On March 18, 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan called the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan Komil Rashidov, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
“State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Sydykov handed over a note of protest due to the blocking of the part of the road Kerben-Ala-Buka in Alabuka district Jalal-Abad region of the Kyrgyz Republic and setting up two checkpoints by the Uzbek military forces, claiming to remove immediately the block posts specified,” - the statement published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic says.
It was also noted the actions conducted by the Uzbek side could lead to the conflict situations for the population within the border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and growth of escalation of tensions at the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.
At the end of the meeting D. Sydykov expressed hope that the Uzbek authorities will demonstrate the political will and determination to comply strictly with the international law and treaty of eternal friendship between the two countries as of December 24, 1996.
