Kyrgyzstan has instituted the “Kurmanjan Datca” Order
Almaty. November 29. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed a decree on “Kurmanjan Datca” Order, KyrTAG writes.
According to the presidential decree, the Order will be awarded to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic for outstanding contributions to social and political activities and professional achievements, protection and strengthening of the state, unity of the people, strengthening the traditions of the people of Kyrgyzstan, education of younger generation in the spirit of love and respect for their homeland.
The order can also be awarded to foreigners, persons without citizenship and legal entities irrespective of the form of ownership.
The decree comes into force starting from the date of publication.
Kurmanjan Datca is the Kyrgyz statesperson and military activist, the leader and ruler of the Alai Kyrgyz from 1832 to 1876. She had the title of Datca (General) in Kokand Khanate and Bukhara Emirate, and was also a colonel in the Russian Imperial Army (1876).
