Bishkek. April 10. Silkroadnews – “We see a year-by-year increase in amount of money transferred by migrants from abroad in Kyrgyzstan. According to the World Bank data on share of money transfers in GDP (31%), Kyrgyzstan is second only to Tajikistan in the world”, says the permanent UNDP representative in Kyrgyzstan, Misteer Avanesov.
Money transfers to Kyrgyzstan have exceeded USD 2 bln this year, as he said at the presentation of the Global Programme that aims to include migration trends in developmental strategies.
“This number is significantly higher than the volume FDI. It is also several times higher than the amount of money the country gets in developmental aid and interest free loans from the donor countries”, he adds.
