Kyrgyzstan's economic growth to make around 2% in 2016

Almaty. September 28. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan's economic growth to make around 2% in 2016, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission Edward Gemayel believes, KyrTAG writes.

«For the recent years the economy has suffered due to the economic slowdown in the region and in the world economy. In particular, the decline in oil prices has affected the economies of Russia and Kazakhstan, having caused a slowdown in their economic growth, which had a negative impact on Kyrgyzstan, mainly through the trading activities, as well as remittances. As a consequence, we observe a slowdown in the republic's economic growth. This year, we expect the economic growth to make about 2%, the rates of the growth are expected to be lower as well», E. Gemayel said at the press conference on Wednesday.

According to him, if the due measures are taken in the policy in the mid-term forecast, next year Kyrgyzstan's economy growth is projected to reach 2.3%.

«In the medium term we expect the growth rates to gradually increase up to the levels the economy observed before the crisis», he added.
