Kyrgyzstan’s foreign debt amounted to $3.6 billion for 2015
Almaty. February 4. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan’s foreign debt in 2015 increased by $169 million (4.9%). The announcement was made by the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic Mirlanbek Baigonchokov, KyrTAG reports.
“A year ago we had external debt of $3.4 billion, then at the beginning of this year the amount grew up to $3.6 billion, i.e. in dollar terms the amount of debt has increased by $169 million, that is by 4.9%,” M. Baigonchokov said at the press conference hold on Thursday.
The deputy minister noted the Ministry of Finance carries out certain work on restructuring or relief of the debt.
“We carry out bilateral negotiations with the creditors. At present we negotiate with the German government on further restructuring of the debts accumulated. Besides, starting from this year the Russian debt of $30 million will not be serviced, it shall decrease by $30 mln annually, that is this amount will not be under service,” - he explained.
As specified by the Minister of Finance Adylbek Kasymaliyev, the external debt, as of December 31, 2015, amounted to 273.7 billion som, i.e. $3.606 billion. Domestic debt made 15 billion 483.7 million som or $204 million. As a percentage of the external debt, the share of external debt made 94.6%, the share of internal debt made 5.4%.
