Kyrgyzstan’s intelligence agency has revealed the religious extremists group

Almaty. April 8. Silkroadnews - Officers of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan have detected the group of religious extremists that used to operate in the territory of Issyk-Kul province of the republic for a long time, KyrTAG reports.

“On April 5, in framework of measures undertaken to combat terrorism and religious extremism, one of four identified active participants of the “Hizb-ut-Tahrir” banned religious extremist organization, living in the Issyk-Kul province, was arrested,” the statement said.

As a result of searches in places of residence of members of the group detected a large number of banned literature and electronic media have been found and seized. The seized materials have been delivered to Kyrgyzstan’ State Agency for Religious Affairs for theological expert evaluation.

The SCNS investigative authorities have opened a criminal case under Article 299-2 part 1 of the Criminal Code.
The detainee stays in custody in the temporary detention facility of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Karakol regional center. The preventive measures issue regarding the other members of the religious extremists group, whose names are not disclosed for the legal reasons, is currently being solved by the law enforcement agencies. The investigation is ongoing.
