Kyrgyzstan temporarily deprived the right to vote in the UN General Assembly due to the non-payment of contributions

Silkroadnews - Kyrgyzstan and six other countries temporarily deprived the right to vote in the UN General Assembly because of the arrears of contributions to the work of the world organization, reported the agency TASS citing the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephen Dyuzharrik.
According to Article 19 of the Charter of the United Nations, Member of the "no vote in the General Assembly if the amount of its arrears equals or exceeds the amount of the contributions due from it for the preceding two full year". According S.Dyuzharrika, on January 28, the fall of this article was fow 11 states.
It follows from a letter sent on 12 January by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, President of the General Assembly, Sam Kutesa, for restoration of voting rights for Kyrgyzstan must pay $ 6731. The highest minimum payment - more than $ 1.2 million - will have to make Somalia. Followed Comoros (862 thousand), Sao Tome and Principe (805 thousand) and Guinea-Bissau (373 thousand).
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Turdakun Sydykov, funds to pay membership fees in international organizations said that Kyrgyzstan has the money which will be soon sent to the account of the United Nations.
