Kyrgyzstan – the only CIS country not to have credit rating
Bishkek. May 14. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan is the only CIS country that does not have either sovereign or corporate credit rating, as the head of the National Center for Strategic Studies, Talant Sultanov, notices.
“Having a country credit rating would create opportunities to attract more foreign investment and would increase the country’s profile. Credit rating would eqip potential investors with some necessary and accurate data to pick the right “vantage point” when it comes to their investment intrests”, the head of the Centre said.
He also highlighted that it is currently possible to get a credit rating for the country and that implementation of such a project would attract significant number of investors.
“It is very costly for investors to borrow money from abroad. We have some good conditions when it comes to our laws and regulations. However, investors are not rushing in to us. There is a number of reasons for that. Lack of information and political perturbations have decreased country’s profile. So far, Kyrgyzstan remains an exotic country for investors. Not every one of them will risk to spend the time to research it before making an investment”, Mister Sultanov added.
