Almaty. August 11. Silkroadnews - Kyrgyzstan will not unilaterally revise the intergovernmental agreement on water sharing with Kazakhstan, according KyrTAG.
"We will not put any conditions for Kazakhstan on water allocation. Kazakhstan is a friendly country, and we will not unilaterally review the intergovernmental agreement on water sharing",- said the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Djoomart Otorbaev during a visit to the Kirov reservoir at his working trip to Talas region.
In turn, the director of the Department of Water Resources Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic Kokumbek Tashtanaliev said that 88% of the water from Kirov reservoir goes to Kazakhstan, and asked the Prime Minister whether there is an opportunity to renegotiate the contract.
"We need to address any issue on a bilateral basis. Now Kazakhstan allocates certain funds for infrastructure repairs of the Kirov reservoir. We will work to continue to make optimal use of water.
