Leaders of Tajikistan and Turkey discussed the expansion of the trade and economic Cooperation

Almaty. March 2. Silkroadnews – Within the framework of the 13th ECO summit in Islamabad the president of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan carried out a bilateral meeting, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports.

“The parties agreed to hold the first cooperation council of two states, days of culture, exchange of students and professors, increase the number of quotas for Tajik citizens’ studying in Turkish universities, establishing of stable ties between artists and celebrities in culture and art fields”, the statement said.

The heads of the states expressed their proposals to expand trade and economic turnover, search for new ways to improve the foreign inter-state trade pattern.

Among the priority and perspective directions of bilateral cooperation the meeting participants also identified strengthening of the joint Intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, strengthening of regional cooperation in the fields of energy and communications, attracting Turkish business circles to implementation of projects on construction of joint ventures, building a mutually beneficial cooperation in the industry, agriculture economy, international transport and tourism sectors.

The presidents also emphasized their common position on strengthening of bilateral and regional cooperation in the fight against international terrorism and extremism, contributing to peace and stability in Afghanistan.

In addition, R. Erdogan invited E. Rahmon to visit Turkey for an official visit. The dates of the visit will be specified through the diplomatic channels.
