Lhasa to increase number of two- and three-star-rated hotels

Beijing. March 2. Silkroadnews - This year the Tourism Administration of Chengguan District, Lhasa, Tibet, will increase the number of two- and three-star-rated hotels to meet the growing demand for tourists’ accommodation for a comfortable holiday, Tibet online reports.
“From June to October every year, the occupancy rate of hotels in Chengguan District is above 80%. Especially in July, August, and September, the rate can be above 95%. In recent years, the development of ecological tourism and leisure tourism to some extent has driven the development of hotel industry,” the report says.
Currently, the level of occupancy of two-star and three-star hotels, as well as family hotels, is quite high. Many tourists prefer family hotels and economy class hotels. Currently, there are 139 hotels and family inns in Chengguan District.
In a growing competitive environment, the hotel industry faces new challenges. To accelerate the pace of building an international tourism city, the Tourism Administration of Chengguan District will continue to strengthen the inspection of the hotels to ensure a comfortable stay for tourists. As soon as the inspection reveals specific problems, the appropriate rectification opinions will be put forward, serious violations revealed will entail due punishment.
