Local governments of the United States are looking for closer cooperation with China

Beijing. Jul 24. Silkroadnews - China’s Consul General in Los Angeles Zhang Ping said the U.S. local authorities are looking forward to set up deeper and broader trade and economic cooperation with China, Sina.com writes.
Local governments in the United States are enthusiastic about developing economic and trade relations with China, as it contributes to the growth and prosperity of the local economy.
According to Zhang, the U.S. governors hope to stop the current trade conflict as soon as possible and ensure the protection of the economic and trade cooperation.
Speaking about economic achievements in relations between China and the United States, Zhang said the Chinese companies have invested into 46 US states, creating over 140,000 jobs there.
Over the past ten years, 49 US states raised their exports to China, of which 17 states doubled their growth, he said. According to him, exports from the U.S. to China increased significantly, in 31 states the growth of services export exceeded 300%.
To compare, the volume of exports of New Mexico to China amounted to more than $1 billion in 2017, which is twice as much as in the previous year.
Zhang also noted, the development of economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S. brought tangible benefits to the people of both countries. However, economic and trade relations are currently facing serious great difficulties and unprecedented problems.
He called for further cooperation between the two countries at the local level to minimize the impact of trade disputes and urged to intensify efforts to inform the public that China-US cooperation is mutually beneficial and that the interests of both countries are very closely intertwined.
