Almaty. September 15. Silkroadnews – Malaysia will open its first overseas university in China, the Malaysian Internet portal “The Star” reported.
“Malaysia will be setting up its first overseas university campus in China. Malaysia-China Qinzhou Industrial Park deputy board chairman Datuk Beh Hang Kong revealed that the campus would be located with the industrial park vicinity, but declined to reveal the name of the university involved,” the report reads.
He also explained that the private Chinese university will be a partner in the project and the campus is scheduled to be opened by 2021.
It is expected that 70% of university students will be from China, and the rest – from ASEAN countries.
A plan to open a Malaysian university campus in China followed the opening of the first Chinese university campus in Malaysia at the University of Xiamen, Malaysia, last year. Nearly 2,000 students are enrolled at its programs at present.
