“Manas” Airport revenue declines by almost 1.2 bln soms, as American airbase leaves

Bishkek. April 24. Silkroadnews - “Manas” airport revenue declines by almost 1.2 bln soms, as American air base left. Dair Tokobabayev, the airport’s VP reported this at the working session of interdepartmental commission on Air-Hub creation.
“We previously had revenues of 3.2 bln soms. We are estimating it to be somewhere within 2 bln soms in 2014. This could cover our expenses, but it would leave 0 budget for future development of the airport”, Mister Tokobayev said.
7 000 of domestic flights and 4 000 of international flights were made last year, as he informed.
Manas Airport currently served 2 mln people, while its capacity is 4 mln people.
“We think the number of transit flights should be increased. We now have only one transit route at the moment: Istanbul-Bishkek-Ulan Bator””, the VP added.
The airport has pitched to 30 investors. It entered into concrete negotiations with 4 of them.
