As the head of the Department of Agriculture Abdul Rashid said, these high results have been achieved due to the timely processing of plantations from pests and diseases the farmers started to aplly while attending the special courses carried out by the Department of Agriculture. Thus, as a whole the province has cultivated 57122 tonnes of melons on the area of 3380 hectares.
At the same time this year the price of melons declined due to difficulties with the transit in Pakistan: cost of a large high-quality melon is about 70 afghani (around $1) instead of one hundred last year.
