Militants torched two schools in eastern Afghanistan
Beijing. April 12. Silkroadnews - Over the past few days militants have torched two schools in eastern Afghanistan, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
An administrative room of a school located in Momend Dara district of the eastern Nangarhar province was torched by militants on the night of Tuesday. The administrative part of the building, where the school records were stored, was destroyed as a result. In the evening on Tuesday, the girls’ school in Mohammad Agha district of the neighboring province of Logar was also torched by gunmen, Pajhwok news agency says. In both cases the attackers, as reported, tied up the school guards before setting the fire.
Despite serious damages suffered, the schools continued classes. The investigations continue. None of the armed oppositions groups have not claimed responsibility over the attacks so far.
It is worth noting that it is the Taliban militants that are recorded as torching the schools most often, in particular, they strongly oppose women’s education.
