More than 1,300 civilians of Afghanistan died over past 8 months

Almaty. January 11. Silkroadnews - The number of fatal casualties among the civilian population of Afghanistan has reached 1,372 people over the last 8 months of 2017, the Afghan News Agency (AfTAG) reports referring to representatives of the Civilian Protection Advocacy Group. According to the report of the Afghan human rights organization, 2,360 civilians sustained wounds in violent incidents during the last eight months.
As the group’s deputy head Abdul Rahim Khurram told reporters, the most of the casualties resulted in the provinces of Kabul, Nangarhar, Herat, Ghor, Kunduz and Helmand.
“A majority of the civilian casualties occurred in Kabul where houses and cultural sites were damaged and claimed by Islamic State militants. About 600 individuals have been killed in the capital,” Khurram said.
The attacks claimed by Daesh killed 327 civilians and left 924 others wounded. Yet the question of who is really behind the attacks remains open.
It was reported earlier, the Afghan Ministry of Defense suggested the suicide attacks in the capital were committed by the group of the Haqqani network trying this way to provoke the expansion of military operations against its competitors.
Along with the anti-government groups’ activities, the casualties also caused by Afghan and foreign air strikes in the provinces of Nangarhar, Herat, Kunduz and Uruzgan. Sixty-two individuals had been killed in foreign airstrikes and 167 suffered casualties as a result of Afghan Air Forces strikes, the report said.
Human rights group expressed concern over the high level of civilian casualties and called on the parties to the conflict to take measures to protect civilians and bring to justice those responsible for such incidents, the Pajhwok news agency reported. In this situation, as noted, the Afghan government needed to prepare and approve a civilian protection law to protect civilians.
