More than 120 vehicles congested at the Kazakhstani-Uzbek border

Almaty. May 24. Silkroadnews – Congestion of more than 120 cars appeared on the Kazakhstani-Uzbek border, the official representative of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhambyl Suraganov informs, KazTAG reports.

“In the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the direction of the Republic of Uzbekistan 71 vehicles has accumulated. 58 vehicles are waiting in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan to move to Kazakhstan,” Z. Suraganov said to KazTAG journalist on Tuesday.

He explained the cluster of vehicles has been caused by a suspension of customs control carried out over the goods and vehicles on the adjacent checkpoint “Yallama” of the Customs Department on the Tashkent region.

“This circumstance results in a cluster of commercial vehicles formed between the checkpoints, accumulation and formation of traffic jams in front of the checkpoint “B. Konysbaev” from the direction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as dissatisfaction and complaints by the participants of foreign economic activity,” release by the customs department press-service says.

Besides, according to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of May 21 Uzbekistan unilaterally suspended the freight transport pass through the checkpoint “Kazygurt”.

As the drivers say, the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan has received a verbal instruction to suspend the pass of freight transport through the customs post “Tashkent” (adjoining checkpoint of “Kazygurt”). At the same time, the Uzbek side has not provided any information on restrictions or prohibitions imposed on commercial vehicles to pass through the checkpoint “Kazygurt”.
