More than $ 91 million annually allocates Kyrgyzstan to fight against disease transmitted through drinking water

Silkroadnews - «For the fight against diseases transmitted through drinking water, allocated about $5 billion soms ($91 million), and each year there are nearly 30 thousand acute intestinal infections, and the share of illnesses related to the parasitic accounts for 24% of cases", - said State Construction Committee in the project aimed at the development of water supply and sanitation of settlements in Kyrgyzstan.
Notes that among the diseases associated with water for a number of years in the country there are outbreaks of typhoid fever among the population of the city of Maili-Suu and Nooken region of Jalal-Abad region. In this case, all of the reported cases of typhoid fever from 70 to 86% of cases occur in these locations, due to the lack of access to safe drinking water.
In addition, according to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, there is a decrease in the incidence of giardiasis by 76% in those villages where the work on hygienic education implemented within the framework of the project "Rural Water Supply and Sanitation" in Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Talas.
