National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Norway’s ORG agreed to extend cooperation
Almaty. November 3. Silkroadnews - The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and the Norwegian ORG signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to broaden their mutual cooperation, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports referring to the Islamic Republic News Agency.
“As per the MoU, the Norwegian company is to start study on Sardar-Jangal Oilfield and exploration blocks of 24, 26 and 29 in Caspian Sea. Deputy Minister of Petroleum for international and commercial affairs Amir Hossein Zamani-nia said in the ceremony that most of Iran’s oil industry activities concentrated in south of the country and expressed the hope that cooperation between NIOC and Khazar Oil Company and Norway's ORG would lead to fruitful results in direction of expanding the area of exploration and development activities in Caspian Sea (Khazar Sea),” the report reads.
Deputy Petroleum Minister of development and engineering affairs Gholamreza Manouchehri pointed to the practical experience of Norway in the field of deposits exploration and development in the sea and expressed the hope that the Memorandum of Understanding would lead to long-term and effective cooperation between the two sides.
Norwegian Ambassador to Tehran Lars Nordrum marked, that cooperation with Iran and signing the memorandum are among achievements within the Iranian nuclear program deal, adding that the structure of the Caspian Sea will allow Norway to expand its cooperation with other littoral states of the Caspian Sea.
