NATO will increase financing of Afghan security forces to $5 billion

Almaty. September 5. Silkroadnews - NATO summit decided to increase funding for Afghan law enforcement officers after 2014 from $4.1 billion to $5.1 billion, reports The Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
According to the head of the delegation of Afghanistan, Defense Minister Bismillah Mohammadi, increase funding was proposed by President Barack Obama.
Meanwhile, NATO General Secretary Anders Fogh Rasmussen expressed the need to sign cooperation agreements with Afghanistan security for the continued presence of the alliance's forces after 2014 as part of the new mission. At the same time Rasmussen on behalf of the Alliance expressed its intention to continue financial support to Afghan security officials at least until 2017.
As recalled by the agency, previously NATO annually allocated $4.1 billion, based on 238 thousand soldiers, but now the number of security forces has reached 352 thousand. Therefore IRA leadership asked to increase aid to NATO.
The NATO summit was held on September 4-5 in Newport (UK).
