Almaty. June 12. Silkroadnews – Swedish Defence Research Institute (FOI) estimates that the withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan is to lead to vast spreading of radical Islam in Uzbekistan, as UzTAG reports.
“NATO forces withdrawal process is to be finished by the end of 2014. This will not only influence the situation within the country. It will also affect its neighbours. The authors of the report conclude that the main threats coming from Afghanistan are common to all of its Central Asian neighbours. These are drug trafficking, Islamism and terrorism”, the article states.
It is noted, that the FOI report has been published in cooperation with Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Turkmen and Uzbek colleagues.
