Natural gas production in Iran in the first half rose by 25% to 92.5 billion cubic meters
Almaty. October 13. Silkroadnews - Iran in the first half increased production of natural gas compared with the same period last year by 25%, reported the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Tuesday with reference to the director of the National Iranian Gas Company Naser Ibrahimi.
According to him, in the first half of the year approximately by 13% increased the supply of gas to power plants of the country. Their volume for the period amounted to more than 35 billion cubic meters, while in the first half of last year, this figure did not exceed 31 billion cubic meters.
More than by 25% increased the amount of gas pumped into oil wells to enhance oil recovery. Over the specified period, to the well was pumped 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
Currently, the only country that supplies natural gas to Iran is Turkmenistan and gas imported from this country is used to supply gas to the north-eastern regions of Iran.
At the same time in order to reduce dependence on imports of natural gas from Turkmenistan, Iran is implementing a number of projects, in particular laying additional pipelines linking the northern and north-eastern regions of the country to other areas. In addition, in the province of Khorasan Razavi commissioned underground gas storage "Shuridzhe", from which the gas is used in the cold season.
