Nazarbayev compared railway Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran with the new Silk Road
Almaty. December 4. Silkroadnews - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has compared the railway line Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran with the new Silk Road, reports KazTAG.
"We actually created a new Silk Road through our three countries through Kazakhstan and China - to the Pacific Ocean", - N. Nazarbayev said at the opening ceremony of the Turkmen-Iranian railway section in Gorgan yesterday.
He emphasized that for Kazakhstan the launch of this railway is very important.
"Kazakhstan has long waited and dreamed to go to Iran and the Persian Gulf, and finally, the launch took place on the railway. We - Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran - paved the way for a length of 900 kilometers, connected all the Central Asian states and Kazakhstan with the countries of the Persian Gulf through Iran",- said the president.
Nazarbayev noted the economic outlook, which carries with the development of the railway infrastructure.
"First, near the railways always thriving life, people find work, develop their own country. Second, developing trade between the three countries. Third, developing transit to all other countries of the world", - he added.
The route will open the possibility for handling 10 million tonnes of cargo. The upcoming commissioning of branches from Zhanaozen-Kyzylgaya-Bereket-Gorgan -Etrek will expand trade and economic cooperation of Kazakhstan with the Gulf countries, South and South-East Asia and Africa.
