Nazarbayev suggests Minsk-Moscow-Astana-Almaty high speed highway should be built
Moscow. April 28. Silkroadnews - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested Minsk-Moscow-Astana-Almaty high speed highway should be built.
"Eurasian Economic Union territory should be at the forefront of the intracontinental infrastructure within Eurasia. For that to happen a number of projects need to be implemented. For instance, we need to create a common Eurasian telecommunications network, we need to build Minsk-Moscow-Astana-Almaty high speed high way", he said during his guest lecture at Moscow State University.
[We need] "...to modernise existing transport networks. Especially those that lead to the West, where they connect with European transport networks and those that lead to the East and connect us with Chinese transport system. We also need to implement "Eurasia" that would connect the Caspian Sea with the Black Sea", the President voiced his suggestions.
"These transport infrastructure projects will show others how serious we are about integrating our economies. This will attract attention of others", added Nazarbayev.
"By the way, the project of a transport channel between the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea dates back to the Tsar times. Though it was never implemented", the President concluded.
