Beijing. January 25. Silkroadnews - Nearly 100,000 officials have been prosecuted for corruption in China over past 5 years, the “People’s Daily” newspaper reported.
“Almost 100,000 officials have been swept up by corruption investigators in the last five years, according to data released at the central conference on political and legal work, which opened in Beijing. Among the 100,000 corrupt officials, 221 were transferred back from overseas. In addition, over the past five years, 250,000 officials were netted for crimes related to abuse of power,” the report said.
Besides, it is reported, in 2017 China became one of the countries with the lowest homicide case rate in the world.
The number of serious cases of violent crimes decreased by 51.8%. The number of major road traffic accidents decreased by 43.8%, the publication notes.
Public satisfaction with the public order has grown from 87.55% in 2012 to 95.55% in 2017. Satisfaction with the work of political and legal staff has also increased from 69.43% in 2012 to 80.24% in 2017.
Over the past five years, more than 600,000 economic crimes have been solved, more than 2 trillion yuan ($312 billion) have been recovered.
It is noted that financial risk is one of the most significant risks, along with the risk of economic crimes, illegal financing and cyber-phishing attacks.
