Next year Afghanistan’s draft budget includes 117 development projects

Almaty. November 9. Silkroadnews – Finance Minister of Afghanistan Eklil Hakimi presented in the Meshrano Jirga (upper house of parliament) next fiscal year draft budget for 466 billion ($7.03 billion) Afghani, AfTAG informs.

Around 287 billion Afghani is the project’s expenditure budget main part; around 178 billion Afghani – is a budget for development projects.

The minister has noted the draft budget provides for 117 large and small development projects in various fields. In particular, in sectors of security, education, health, agriculture and infrastructure to be implemented in a balanced manner in the different provinces of the country.

He also added, due to the outlined economic growth and rising incomes an opportunity appeared to gradually move to self-sufficiency.

E. Hakimi stressed that the draft budget for 1396 takes into account the realities, priorities and financial possibilities of the country. At the same time, the draft budget proposes to give considerable attention to security – 39% and infrastructure projects – 21%.

In monetary terms the budget provides for 94 billion, 26 billion, 2 billion and 15.5 billion Afghani for infrastructure, agriculture, rural development, education and health care respectively.
