North Korea considers beginning of war with U.S. as a matter of time
Almaty. December 8. Silkroadnews - North Korea considers the beginning of the war with the United States as a matter of time, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports with reference to Fars News Agency.
“North Korea said it does not seek war with the United States but Washington’s threats against the North have made the outbreak of war in the Korean Peninsula an “established fact,” and Pyongyang will not be hiding from a potential conflict. An unnamed spokesman for the North’s Foreign Ministry was quoted as making the comments,” the report said.
With this the official has criticized the incitement of the conflict by the U.S. officials.
“We do not wish for a war but shall not hide from it. The remaining question now is: when will the war break out,” he added.
In the past few months, tensions on the Korean peninsula have escalated significantly following Pyongyang’s latest missile and nuclear tests, despite growing international pressure.
On Monday, the United States and South Korea launched a five-day military exercise involving more than 200 aircraft and conducting mock attacks on North Korea. The provocative military exercises began a week after Pyongyang announced that it had already tested its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile that could strike the U.S. territory.
Two days prior to the joint exercises beginning, the DPRK warned the U.S. President Donald Trump that he was “staging an extremely dangerous nuclear gamble on the Korean Peninsula.”
Last week, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley warned North Korea that the country’s leadership would be “utterly destroyed” if war were to break out between Washington and Pyongyang.
Pyongyang says it will not abandon its nuclear program until Washington stops its hostile policy towards the country.
The United States has deployed thousands of troops in the region, including South Korea and Japan, and regularly threaten North Korea with military action.
